Overview: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released detailed results of the NEET-UG 2024 exam, including a breakdown of performance by exam centres. This follows a Supreme Court directive for greater transparency due to allegations of irregularities and paper leaks.

Key Highlights:

  1. Top Performers:
    • The Unit-1 School of Engineering RKU in Rajkot, Gujarat, stands out with 12 students scoring 700 or more out of 720. Among them, one student achieved a perfect score of 720/720.
    • Other top-performing centres include locations in Sikar (Rajasthan), Namakkal (Tamil Nadu), Howrah (West Bengal), Mohali (Chandigarh), Bengaluru Urban (Karnataka), Malappuram (Kerala), Mahendragarh (Haryana), Patna (Bihar), Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Surat (Gujarat), and Kota (Rajasthan).
  2. Performance Data:
    • Rajkot Centre: Out of 1,968 candidates, 12 scored 700 or more.
    • Ahmedabad and Surat Centres: Both centres reported 5 candidates each scoring 700 or above.
    • Patna: Despite being under scrutiny, no candidates scored 700 or above, with 29 students scoring above 650.
    • Hazaribagh: Linked to the Patna paper leak, the centre had no candidates scoring above 700; only two candidates scored above 680.
  3. Concerns and Investigations:
    • Godhra: The centre is not featured in the top 50 list despite previous complaints of OMR sheet manipulation. The NTA claims issues were addressed by the district administration.
    • Jhajjar: Initially reported six perfect scores, but the revised results show no scores above 682. The centre, along with others, had its results re-evaluated after administrative errors.
  4. Supreme Court Involvement:
    • The Supreme Court ordered the NTA to publish city/centre-wise results to ensure transparency. The results were initially announced on June 4, with the detailed breakdown released on July 20, following the court’s directive.
  5. Examination Statistics:
    • NEET-UG 2024 was conducted on May 5 across 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international locations, with over 23 lakh candidates appearing for the exam.
