The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to commence the 2025 board exams for Classes 10 and 12 from February 15, 2025. Although no official date sheet has been released yet, this speculation follows a recent post by PTI on X. The exams are likely to start in mid-February and conclude by April 2025.
Since 2023, CBSE has consistently scheduled board exams from February 15. In contrast, the 2021 and 2022 exams were delayed due to pandemic disruptions, taking place between May and June, and April and May, respectively.
Exam Format and Practical Exams
The 2025 board exams will follow the traditional pen-and-paper format. A separate date sheet will be provided for the practical exams. For Class 12, practicals will be overseen by external examiners, while Class 10 practicals will be conducted by the school teachers.
Security Measures and Examination Centres
CBSE has mandated a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) policy for all schools designated as exam centres, ensuring fairness and security. Around 44 lakh students are expected to participate in these exams across India and 26 other countries, with approximately 8,000 schools serving as exam centres.
Submission of LOC and Potential Changes to Exam Format
CBSE has issued FAQs to guide schools in submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2024-25 exams accurately. Additionally, CBSE is considering introducing a semester system, with biannual exams for Classes 10 and 12. While consultations are ongoing, no final decision has been made regarding this potential change.
Students and schools are advised to stay updated with official CBSE announcements for the latest information on exam schedules and formats.
