Mangaluru, October 3, 2024: Carmel School, CBSE Kotekar, observed Gandhi Jayanthi with a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Students and staff participated in a special event to honor his teachings and principles, led by chief guest Sr. Jyothi Priya A.C.

The event opened with a prayer song, followed by a series of performances highlighting Gandhi’s values and his contributions to India’s freedom struggle. Students from Grade 1 delivered a captivating program, dressed in vibrant attire, emphasizing themes of non-violence, cleanliness, and simplicity—values central to Gandhi’s philosophy. A key moment was the students’ creative portrayal of Gandhi’s famous “Three Monkeys” message: “See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil.”

Sr. Jyothi Priya A.C. shared insights into Gandhi’s life, including his childhood, education, and the profound influence of his parents. She encouraged students to embody his values in their daily lives, reinforcing the timeless relevance of his teachings.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by students Isa Shukur and Adhya, while the principal, Sr. Pramila Dsouza A.C., and other school leaders commended the students for their performances.

In line with Gandhi’s focus on cleanliness, the school organized a cleaning drive involving students, teachers, and staff. This initiative served as a practical reminder of the importance of cleanliness (Swachhata) in daily life, reflecting Gandhi’s vision for a cleaner, healthier nation.

The celebration underscored Carmel School’s commitment to nurturing national pride and instilling Gandhian values in students. It left both students and teachers inspired to carry forward the legacy of non-violence, peace, and social responsibility in their own lives.
