DEO Holds Workshop to Prepare Schools for Parakh Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024

District Education Officer (Secondary) Ginni Duggal held a workshop at Shivalik Public School, Phase 6, engaging nearly 600 principals, school heads, and directors from both private and government schools to prepare for the upcoming Parakh Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024. Scheduled for December 4, the survey will assess learning outcomes for Classes III, VI, and IX, focusing on core competencies gained in the previous academic year.

Key Points Addressed at the Workshop

During the session, Duggal highlighted that random selection could include any school in the survey, making preparation essential. She clarified roles and responsibilities of school heads and teachers, detailing how field investigators would conduct section and student sampling within schools.

Duggal provided an overview of the formats required for sampled schools, which will involve:

  • Achievement Tests for students
  • Pupil, Teacher, and School Questionnaires

Assessment and Competency Enhancement

Duggal elaborated on the Punjab School Education Department’s ongoing Competency Enhancement Programme (CEP), led by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. She discussed the structured worksheets, assessment tools, and data analysis techniques used to enhance student competencies. Specific examples were shared to guide schools in aligning with the survey requirements and maintaining Punjab’s top-ranking status achieved in NAS 2021.

Collaboration with Schools

The DEO shared worksheets, assignments, and assessment tools with private schools to standardize preparation. She also expressed gratitude to Anoopkiran, Director Principal of Shivalik Public School, for hosting the event. Inderjeet Sandhu, principal of Sant Isher Public School and district coordinator for the Parakh survey, also provided insights on the survey’s logistics.

The workshop underscored the importance of collaboration and readiness in striving for educational excellence, with Punjab schools aiming to uphold their leading position in national education standards.
