The Rajasthan Judicial Service (RJS) Examination results for 2024 have revealed a historic achievement: 90% of the successful candidates this year are women. This remarkable success not only underscores the growing presence of women in the judicial field but also highlights the dedication and determination many of them have shown in preparing for this highly competitive exam.

One of the standout achievers this year is Parma Choudhary from Churu. Scoring 187 marks, she secured third place in the state on her very first attempt, bringing her both pride and recognition. Her achievement is noteworthy given her unique journey, which took her from a career in dentistry to the legal field. Choudhary attributes her success to her family’s encouragement, especially from her husband, in-laws, and the inspiring legal environment they provided.

Parma’s Path from Dentistry to Judiciary

Initially pursuing a career in dentistry, Choudhary earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2010. In 2012, she married Sumit Lamba, also from Churu, and settled into family life. Although her aspirations of becoming a judge remained, she chose initially to continue in the medical field, working alongside her husband. However, her ambition to join the judiciary never faded, and she soon found support within her new family to pursue this goal.

Her in-laws, deeply connected to the legal profession, played a key role in motivating her. Her uncle-in-law, Birbal Singh Lamba, is a respected advocate with over 56 years of practice, and her father-in-law, Surendra Singh Lamba, also has a legal background. Living among legal books and hearing discussions about law helped reignite Choudhary’s passion for the judiciary, eventually leading her to enroll in law school.

A Determined Approach to Law Studies

In 2020, Choudhary began her studies at Churu Law College, excelling academically from the start and becoming a college topper. Remarkably, she achieved this without formal coaching, relying on self-study and disciplined preparation. Over the next four years, she managed her family responsibilities as a mother and wife while focusing intensely on her RJS exam studies.

Through her dedication and perseverance, Choudhary passed the RJS examination with high marks, securing her place among the top candidates and making her family and community proud. Her success story exemplifies the impact of family support and a strong will to succeed, serving as an inspiration for many others.

Women’s Success in RJS and its Broader Impact

This year’s RJS results reflect a broader shift toward gender inclusivity in the judiciary, a profession that has seen increased female representation in recent years. Choudhary’s success, along with that of her peers, highlights the commitment of women entering this demanding field and the support systems that have enabled them to thrive.

Choudhary’s journey from dentistry to law also illustrates the diverse career paths many women are now pursuing, and how they’re breaking new ground in traditionally male-dominated areas. The 2024 RJS results affirm that women are not only entering the legal profession in greater numbers but are also achieving top ranks, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the judiciary in Rajasthan and beyond.
