The Delhi government has issued a directive to carry out regular inspections of state-run schools in the city, aimed at improving the availability of essential amenities and enhancing the overall infrastructure and academic quality. The Directorate of Education (DoE) is now responsible for ensuring that these schools meet basic requirements such as clean drinking water, proper sanitation, sufficient lighting, and adequate classroom furniture.

According to the circular released on November 1, these inspections will also focus on the student-to-classroom ratio, classroom organization, and safety measures for students. The inspections will further assess the discipline on school premises, teachers’ attendance in classrooms, and the identification of potential blind spots within the school premises. Additionally, the functioning of CCTV cameras will be closely monitored to ensure the safety of students.

To carry out these inspections, the regional directors of education, district deputy directors, and zone deputy directors are required to visit schools and education departments within their respective jurisdictions at least three times a week. Inspectors are tasked with submitting their reports online on the same day of the inspection and must send a signed hard copy of the report to the inspection branch headquarters within seven days.

The deputy directors are also required to address any deficiencies noted in their inspections promptly. Furthermore, they are instructed to maintain regular communication with school staff, promoting collaboration between stakeholders to continuously improve the infrastructure and quality of education in Delhi’s government schools.

These measures are expected to ensure that students in government-run schools have access to safe, well-equipped classrooms that foster a productive learning environment. The initiative is a key step in ensuring the delivery of high-quality education in Delhi, with a focus on student well-being and academic excellence.
