The Delhi EWS admission process for 2025-26 has begun, allowing parents to apply for free seats in private schools under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories. Applications are open from February 3 to February 19, 2025, through the Directorate of Education, Delhi (DoE) website.

  • Admission Levels: Nursery, Kindergarten, and Class 1.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limits (as of March 31, 2025)

  • Nursery (Preschool): 3 to 5 years.
  • KG (Pre-primary): 4 to 6 years.
  • Class 1: 5 to 7 years.
  • Children with Special Needs: Extended age limits apply—3 to 7 years for Nursery, 4 to 8 years for KG, and 5 to 9 years for Class 1.

Income Criteria

  • Families must have an annual income of less than ₹5 lakh to qualify under the EWS category.
  • Private elementary schools approved by MCD and MDMC are also part of the lottery-based admission process.

How to Apply for Delhi EWS Admission 2025-26

Parents must apply online through the Delhi Education Directorate’s portal following these steps:

  1. Visit edudel.nic.in (Delhi Education Directorate website).
  2. Click on the “EWS/DG/Freeship Admissions” tab.
  3. Select “EWS Delhi Free School Admission Application Form 2025-26” (after activation).
  4. Register and fill in the required details.
  5. Upload the necessary documents as per the guidelines.

Important Notes

  • No application fee is required, as these admissions are part of the RTE free school entry policy.
  • The first automated lottery draw will take place on March 3, 2025, to allocate seats fairly.
  • The early admission timeline ensures that EWS students start their academic year alongside general-category students.
