To improve transparency and accountability in school education, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a Social Audit Training Programme. This initiative ensures that the benefits of government education schemes reach every section of society.
Training Ongoing in 14 Districts
Currently, Cluster Social Auditors (CSAs) from 14 districts are undergoing training. These include Ambedkarnagar, Amethi, Bahraich, Balrampur, Barabanki, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Gonda, Kheri, Raebareli, Shahjahanpur, Shravasti, Sitapur, and Sultanpur.
The training is taking place at district headquarters and will continue until April 23. Integral University, Lucknow is conducting the sessions, following government guidelines. Notably, the programme will expand to other districts once the initial training is complete.
Nodal Officers and Session Structure
Designated nodal officers — Prof HM Arif, Dr Areena, and Dr Vanya — are supervising the programme. Each training session includes 20 to 60 participants and covers 10 to 18 blocks in each district.
So far, officials have trained over 270 CSAs. The sessions follow three NCERT-developed modules, which help auditors understand their role and responsibilities.
Training Modules and Focus Areas
The training focuses on three major areas:
- Key schemes under Samagra Shiksha
- The role and process of social auditing
- Audit tools, reporting formats, and evaluation methods
As a result, CSAs can now monitor essential schemes more effectively. These include:
- School uniforms distribution
- Textbook supply
- Mid-day meal implementation
- Nutrition and health programmes
- Infrastructure facilities
- Inclusive education for children with special needs
Clear Objectives and Government’s Vision
According to Kanchan Verma, Director General of School Education, CSAs will ensure proper monitoring at the grassroots level. They will identify irregularities and report them directly to the authorities.
Meanwhile, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh explained that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants the benefits of government schemes to reach the most marginalised groups. Therefore, this training reflects the government’s commitment to social accountability and public involvement in governance.
Looking Ahead
The government plans to implement social auditing across the entire state. Once training concludes in all designated districts, social audits will begin immediately.
In conclusion, this programme marks a step forward in ensuring transparency, efficiency, and community participation in the education sector.
