Nubra, April 28: Government Degree College (GDC) Nubra, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Tsewang Motup, organized a large-scale awareness and enrolment campaign on April 26, 2025. The campaign took place across the border villages of Bogdang, Turtuk, and Tyakshi.
Bridge Course and NEP 2020 in Focus
The outreach focused on informing higher secondary students about the upcoming Bridge Course, scheduled from April 28 to May 10, 2025, at the GDC Nubra campus. Faculty and students explained the course structure, benefits, and admission procedures to recent Class 12 graduates and current students.
The campaign also introduced the academic changes under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, helping students understand their course options and encouraging informed career decisions.
Faculty-Led Teams Conduct Village Sessions
Three dedicated teams led the campaign in their respective villages:
- Team Bogdang: Assistant Professors Mohd. Mussa (Team Leader), Stanzin Itga, Rinchen Angmo; students Shah Jahan and Zangskit Dolma.
- Team Turtuk: Assistant Professors Sonam Angmo (Team Leader), Stanzin Padma, Dr. Padma Lahmo, Mohd. Javed; students Sanju Kumari and Samina Anjum.
- Team Tyakshi: Assistant Professors Tsewang Lahmo (Team Leader), Dr. Konchok Dorjay, Spalzes Angmo, Dr. Masroor Ahmed; student Naziya Anjum.
Each team held interactive sessions at local schools, providing counselling and distributing information about higher education opportunities under NEP 2020.
Local Stakeholders Offer Strong Support
The campaign received strong backing from local stakeholders. School Principals Tsewang Dolma (GHHS Turtuk) and Mepham Tsomo (GHHS Bogdang), along with teachers, parents, village elders, and community leaders, actively participated in the sessions.
Their support contributed significantly to the event’s success and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting education in remote areas.
