New Delhi, 27 December 2022: The Apeejay Stya family recently celebrated the 103rd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Stya Paul, an eminent industrialist, educationist, philanthropist, freedom fighter, and the inspiration behind the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group. Dr. Stya Paul was the Founder Chairman of Apeejay Education and the Founder Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University.
Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-Promoter and President of the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, Chairperson of Apeejay Education, and Co-Founder and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, paid a heartfelt tribute to her father. She reminisced about his journey from humble beginnings to achieving great success and glory. Dr. Stya Paul’s legacy of excellence is being carried forward by Mrs. Berlia, who has made significant contributions to industry and education.
In her speech, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia highlighted the values and principles upheld by her father. “We are not just celebrating the anniversary and memory of my beloved father and Guru – Dr. Stya Paul, but also what he stood for, the values he exhibited, and what it means to be human. The values of resilience, self-belief, self-determination, focus, and never giving up are part of the Apeejay Education ethos imbibed from Dr. Stya Paul’s persona and vision,” she said. She emphasized that Dr. Stya Paul believed in the power of self-belief and aspiring to be one’s grandest version.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the COVID-19 lockdown, Mrs. Berlia spoke about the resilience that has brought everyone this far. She noted that Dr. Stya Paul’s life, despite being physically challenged and facing numerous adversities, exemplified resilience and a commitment to man-making and nation-building.
Dr. Stya Paul was greatly inspired by the values of Swami Vivekananda, and Apeejay Education institutions strive to propagate these teachings to the current generation. To honor this, a musical monoact on ‘Vivekananda’ was presented by Shri Shekhar Sen, a Padma Shri awardee. This creative tribute depicted Vivekananda’s incredible life journey through a powerful narrative. Shekhar Sen is a renowned singer, music composer, lyricist, playwright, and actor, with more than 200 musical albums to his credit.
Another key highlight of the evening was a scintillating Sarod recital by Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter of the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and the granddaughter of Dr. Stya Paul. Dr. Neha Berlia, a gifted Sarod player with numerous national awards, mesmerized the audience with her performance, which received much applause.
The celebratory function was attended by other prominent family members, including Shri Vijay Berlia, Chairman of the Svran Group, Shri Nishant Berlia, Co-Promoter of the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, and Shri Aditya Berlia, Co-Promoter of the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group.
