    IPS Amitabh Yash: A Storied Career

    Born on April 11, 1971, in Bhojpur, Bihar, Amitabh Yash comes from a police family. His father, Ramyash Singh, a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) from the Bihar cadre, initially discouraged Amitabh from joining the police force. However, after successfully clearing the UPSC examination in 1996, Amitabh followed his passion and became an IPS officer, joining the Uttar Pradesh cadre in 1998. His father later provided invaluable guidance in his career.

    Amitabh pursued his education at prestigious institutions, earning a degree from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and later obtaining a master’s degree in Chemistry from IIT Kanpur.

    Law Enforcement Journey

    Amitabh Yash’s first posting was as Superintendent of Police in Sant Kabir Nagar, followed by assignments in districts like Barabanki, Hardoi, Jalaun, and Noida, among others. Known for his uncompromising approach to crime, he is credited with eliminating over 150 criminals during his service. His reputation as a tough and effective officer has made him one of the most respected figures in law enforcement.
