The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is anticipated to release the date sheet for the 2025 Class 10 and 12 board exams shortly. The exams are expected to commence on February 15, 2025, and conclude by April, though official confirmation is pending. This follows CBSE’s consistent pattern of starting the board exams in mid-February since 2023, in contrast to earlier years when exams were held later in the year.
Exam Format and Practical Details
The 2025 board exams will follow the traditional pen-and-paper format. CBSE will issue separate date sheets for practical exams, with external examiners supervising Class 12 practicals, while Class 10 practicals will be overseen by school teachers.
Security Measures: CCTV Monitoring
To ensure fairness and security, CBSE has mandated that all schools designated as examination centres must have Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed. Around 8,000 schools will be chosen as exam centres for the 2025 exams, which will see approximately 44 lakh students participating across India and 26 other countries.
Guidelines for Schools
CBSE has released a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to guide affiliated schools in accurately submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2024-25 board exams within the stipulated time.
Potential Semester System
CBSE is reportedly considering the introduction of a semester system for Classes 10 and 12, which would involve biannual board exams. Currently, the exams are held in a single window from February to March, but discussions are ongoing to explore the feasibility of conducting exams twice a year. No final decision has been made on this proposal.
