CBSE Hosts Workshop on “Parenting for Students’ Well-being”

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted a workshop titled “Parenting for Students’ Well-being” today at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi. This initiative aimed to equip around 150 principals from CBSE schools across Delhi/NCR with effective strategies to enhance the emotional and psychological health of students.

The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a captivating performance from the school choir. In his opening remarks, Sh. Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting student well-being. Rahul Singh, Chairperson of CBSE, discussed the evolving challenges that parents face and the need for schools to take a proactive role in guiding families. Drawing from personal experiences, he highlighted that parenting is a dynamic role with continuously changing responsibilities, and that effective parenting often benefits from the collective wisdom of different generations. He stressed the significance of instilling values that contribute to a child’s happiness.

The workshop included expert-led sessions focusing on the vital role of parenting in shaping students’ emotional and psychological health. Rohit Kumar, a Personal Growth Facilitator, shared valuable insights into the mental and emotional needs of students. Sonia Pillai, an Executive Coach and Interpersonal Skill Trainer, provided practical strategies for fostering open dialogue between parents and their children. Additionally, Anuradha Joshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, offered valuable strategies for addressing and maintaining the emotional needs of students.

The workshop concluded with an engaging Question & Answer session, allowing principals to address specific challenges and share insights. In alignment with the goals set forth in the National Education Policy 2020, this workshop reinforced CBSE’s commitment to the holistic development of students by empowering school leaders with the knowledge and skills to assist parents in creating a nurturing environment for students’ well-being.
