The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued show-cause notices to 27 schools, including those from the Delhi and Rajasthan (Ajmer) regions, for violations such as dummy admissions and non-compliance with CBSE regulations. These schools were found guilty of disregarding key provisions set by the board.
Key Findings:
- A CBSE team conducted surprise inspections at some of these schools, revealing discrepancies. For example, the number of students reported in Classes 11 and 12 was significantly inflated compared to actual attendance.
- Violations were also found in terms of enrollment procedures and attendance guidelines.
- 22 schools from the Delhi region and 5 from the Ajmer region were flagged.
Consequences:
- The schools have been asked to provide explanations for the violations.
- If CBSE finds their responses unsatisfactory, further action may be taken, which could include penalties or even the cancellation of school recognition.
- In the past, CBSE has revoked recognition of more than 20 schools for falsely reporting student numbers.
