The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) hosted the National Adolescent Summit 2024 on December 20-21 at the National Bal Bhawan, New Delhi. Themed “Life Skills, Mental Health, Safety, and Well-being,” the event brought together over 850 participants, including students and educators from India and abroad.

The summit, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, was inaugurated by CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh. He highlighted adolescence as a transformative phase and stressed the importance of education beyond textbooks to nurture self-awareness and societal contributions.

CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta addressed modern challenges like information overload and evolving family dynamics. Gupta emphasized robust school counseling mechanisms to support student mental health and create inclusive learning environments.

An adolescent well-being parliament where 70 students discussed pressing youth issues.

UTSAV: Celebrating Creativity and Culture

  • Kalakriti: A painting competition with 110 creative entries.
  • Eloquence: A debating championship pairing schools for dynamic discussions.
  • Tarang: Indian classical dance performances by 90 talented students.
  • Pathshala Nukkad Ki: Theatrical presentations on contemporary themes.
  • Manovriti: Screening of 50 student-created short films showcasing unique perspectives.

Q-Smart Quiz
A health and wellness quiz testing students’ knowledge and wit through multiple interactive rounds.

Samvedna Sessions
Renowned mentors engaged with student peer educators, offering guidance on adolescent challenges.

Discussions and Workshops

Panel discussions addressed student issues, while workshops for counselors and wellness teachers provided practical strategies for fostering mental health and resilience.

Valedictory Ceremony

The closing ceremony was graced by Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India TV, as the special guest. In his speech, Sharma emphasized the need to combat misinformation and cybercrimes. His interactive Q&A session offered critical insights into youth challenges and the importance of ethical media practices.

Winners of various competitions were awarded medals and certificates, celebrating their achievements.

The summit, reflecting the goals of NEP 2020, underscored the importance of holistic education in equipping students with essential life skills, mental resilience, and a proactive approach to their well-being.
