CBSE Students Urged to Email Officials Over Tough Physics Exam

The CBSE Class 12 Physics board exam has sparked outrage among students, with many expressing frustration over its high difficulty level. Several students took to social media to highlight their struggles, claiming the paper was unusually challenging.

Amid the backlash, a Reddit post on r/JEENEETards revealed screenshots of a WhatsApp message allegedly sent by a school, urging students to email CBSE officials with complaints about the exam. The message provided a pre-written email that students were asked to copy-paste and send before the CBSE marking scheme meeting.

Claims About the Exam’s Difficulty

The WhatsApp message outlined several grievances about the Physics paper:

  • Excessive application-based and analytical questions, rather than direct derivations.
  • Complex language, making comprehension difficult.
  • Questions beyond the NCERT syllabus, raising concerns about fairness.
  • Lengthy numerical-based MCQs and challenging case-study questions, adding to time constraints.

The message suggested that a high volume of complaints could influence CBSE’s moderation policy, potentially leading to lenient marking.

Student Reactions and CBSE’s Response

While many students supported the move, others questioned whether mass emailing officials was an appropriate response. CBSE has yet to issue a statement on the complaints or clarify whether the paper’s difficulty exceeded standard guidelines.

This incident reflects growing concerns over board exam stress, the balance between application-based learning and syllabus coverage, and the role of social media in student activism.
