The Department of Education and Education Technology, in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the University Grants Commission’s MMTTC, successfully organized a two-day exposure visit program for CBSE principals on 26-27 September 2024. Held at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), the initiative aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aimed to enhance the integration of skill-based education into school curricula.
A total of 46 principals from CBSE-affiliated schools across India participated in the event, which provided valuable insights into vocational education, institutional collaboration, and modern teaching practices. The goal was to empower these educational leaders with the tools and strategies needed to guide their schools towards a future-oriented approach.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. B. J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of UoH, alongside Prof. Jyotirmaya Sharma, Dean of the School of Social Sciences. A series of expert-led sessions covered key aspects of skill-based education:
- Prof. Jyotirmaya Sharma discussed the role of skill education in social sciences and humanities.
- Prof. B. Rajashekhar from the School of Management focused on scaling skill education in line with NEP 2020 objectives.
- Prof. Ghansham Krishna, Director of the Institute of Eminence, highlighted UoH’s progress toward institutional excellence.
- Prof. P. Appa Rao addressed management and institutional partnerships.
- Prof. G. Padmaja emphasized the importance of life skills education and behavioral sciences within the NEP 2020 framework.
These sessions provided the principals with practical knowledge to implement skill-based education in their schools. CBSE expressed gratitude to the organizers, Prof. P. Prakash Babu and Prof. Madhusudan JV, for their leadership in organizing the program.
