The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official notification outlining the subject-wise marks breakdown for the 2025 board exams. This notification includes crucial details for Class 10 and 12 students, covering the practical exam schedules, marks distribution, and guidelines for the upcoming board exams.

Key Dates for Practical Exams

  • For schools in winter-bound areas, practical exams and internal assessments will take place from November 5 to December 5, 2024.
  • Practical exams for other regions are scheduled to begin on January 1, 2025, for Class 10 and February 15, 2025, for Class 12.

Marks Breakdown and Exam Structure

The total marks for each subject remain at 100, divided between theory, practicals, projects, and internal assessments. The notification provides specific details, including subject codes, names, and the maximum marks allocated for each component. The guidelines also specify whether an external examiner will be appointed for practical exams and the types of answer books that will be used for theory exams.

Relaxation for Special Cases

CBSE has offered a 25% relaxation for students in special cases, such as medical emergencies or participation in national or international sports events. Students seeking this relaxation must submit the appropriate documentation.

Eligibility and Attendance

To be eligible for the 2025 board exams, students must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 75%. Additionally, around 44 lakh students from 8,000 schools in India and abroad are expected to appear for the Class 10 exams.

Students can access sample papers for the board exams on the official CBSE academic portal at cbseacademic.nic.in. The subject-wise timetable for theory exams is expected to be released in December 2024.
