CBSE Declares Class 10 and 12 Results for 2025 Session
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the Class 10 and Class 12 board examination results for the academic year 2024–2025. Students can now access their scores on the official result portal cbseresults.nic.in. This year, the board oversaw the evaluation of more than 41 lakh students, making it one of the largest examination exercises in India.
Slight Improvement in Overall Pass Percentages
CBSE reported a marginal increase in the overall pass percentages for both classes.
- Class 10: Out of 23,71,939 students, 22,21,636 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 93.66%, a slight rise from 93.60% in 2024.
- Class 12: Out of 16,92,794 students, 14,96,307 passed, with a pass percentage of 88.39%, up from 87.98% last year.
These figures reflect consistent academic performance and exam preparedness amid a growing student base.
Girls Lead the Results Once Again
Girls have continued to outperform boys in both Class 10 and 12 examinations:
- Class 12: Girls recorded a 91.64% pass rate, surpassing boys at 85.70%, a margin of 5.94%.
- Class 10: Girls achieved a 95.00% pass rate, ahead of boys at 92.63%, a difference of 2.37%.
Notably, transgender students showed exceptional performance with a 100% pass rate in Class 12 and 95.00% in Class 10.
Southern Regions Dominate Top Rankings
Southern India once again secured the highest regional results:
- Class 12 Top Regions:
- Vijaywada: 99.60%
- Trivandrum: 99.32%
- Chennai: 97.39%
- Class 10 Top Regions:
- Trivandrum and Vijaywada: 99.79% (tied)
- Bengaluru: 98.90%
- Chennai: 98.71%
On the other hand, Prayagraj (79.53%) and Guwahati (84.14%) recorded the lowest Class 12 and Class 10 pass percentages respectively.
Foreign Schools and CWSN Students Perform Strongly
CBSE-affiliated foreign schools maintained their strong performance:
- Class 12: 95.01%
- Class 10: 98.57%
Students under the Children With Special Needs (CWSN) category also achieved high success rates:
- Class 12: 93.16%
- Class 10: 96.02%
Several CWSN candidates scored above 90% and 95%, reflecting the positive impact of inclusive educational policies.
High Achievers and Compartment Numbers
- In Class 12, 1.11 lakh students scored above 90%, with nearly 25,000 exceeding 95%.
- In Class 10, 2 lakh students scored above 90%, while 45,516 students achieved 95% and above.
However, the board also placed:
- 1.41 lakh Class 10 students in the Compartment category
- A significant number in Class 12 as well
This highlights the need for focused remedial support and academic interventions.

Students can check their CBSE board results through the official website, cbseresults.nic.in, and other platforms like DigiLocker and UMANG app. Those placed in the Compartment category can prepare for the upcoming improvement examinations to be conducted later this year.
