The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official notification detailing attendance requirements and key dates for the upcoming 2025 Class X and XII board examinations. According to CBSE, students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible for the board exams. This threshold may be reduced under certain conditions, such as medical issues or participation in sports at national or international levels, with appropriate documentation.
Key Dates for 2025 CBSE Board Exams
The CBSE board exams for Class X and Class XII will begin with Practical Examinations and Internal Assessments (IA) starting on January 1, 2025, while the theory exams are scheduled to commence from February 15, 2025. Winter-bound schools, however, will conduct their practical exams from November 5 to December 5, 2024.
This announcement provides clarity for students and schools to ensure all requirements are met within the stipulated timeframes.
Exam Preparation Resources for Students
To support students in their preparations, CBSE has made sample papers available for both Class X and Class XII on its academic website. These sample papers outline the marking scheme, exam structure, and question types expected in the actual exams, offering students valuable insights into the test format.
Attendance Requirements for Exam Eligibility
In its recent circular, CBSE reiterated its 75% attendance mandate for students to qualify for the exams. This requirement is aimed at encouraging consistent class participation and academic engagement. However, students experiencing medical emergencies or participating in national/international sports can apply for a relaxation of this requirement. Requests for attendance leniency must be backed by valid documentation and submitted to CBSE as per the guidelines.
Anticipated Exam Timetable
While the official date sheet for theory exams is yet to be released, CBSE is expected to publish it by December 2024, based on prior years’ timelines. This date sheet will provide students with a detailed schedule, enabling them to plan their study routines effectively.
Massive Student Participation
Approximately 44 lakh students from around 8,000 schools in India and abroad are expected to appear for the 2025 CBSE board exams, making it one of the largest examination undertakings in the country.
