The Delhi government has allocated ₹19,291 crore to the education sector in the 2025-26 budget, reflecting a 17.7% increase from the previous year. The budget, presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, emphasizes educational reforms, digital learning, and medical education.

Key Announcements in Education

60 ‘CM Shri’ Schools Under NEP 2020

The government will establish 60 new ‘CM Shri’ schools, compliant with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSC) 2023. These schools will receive a dedicated budget of ₹100 crore.

Education Hub in Narela

₹500 crore has been allocated to develop an education hub in Narela, aiming to enhance infrastructure and educational resources.

Smart Classrooms and Free Laptops

  • ₹100 crore has been set aside for smart classrooms, with a target of 7,000 computerised classrooms in a phased manner.
  • 12,000 Class X students will receive free laptops to support digital learning.

Higher Education and Skill Development

  • 1,270 flats have been allocated to four state-run universities, including:
    • Delhi Technological University (DSEU)
    • Dr. BR Ambedkar University Delhi (DPRSU)
    • Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU)
  • ITI Pusa redevelopment and the construction of ITI Shahdara have been proposed.
  • ₹886 crore has been allocated for training and technical education programs.

Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission

  • A ₹21 crore initiative to provide professional guidance for JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA, and CUET aspirants.

Medical Education and Healthcare

The budget includes provisions for two new medical colleges in Delhi to improve healthcare services and expand medical education opportunities.

Governance and Entrepreneurship Initiatives

‘Rashtraneeti’ Programme

A new initiative aimed at practical learning of governance, democracy, and policymaking for students of all classes.

Startup Incubation Centres

  • 11 startup incubation centres will be set up to encourage entrepreneurship skills among youth.
  • ₹2.43 crore has been allocated to support startups and equip young entrepreneurs.
