Varsha Gaikwad, the School Education Minister of Maharashtra, has declared a two-week Diwali break for all state-run schools from October 28 to November 10, 2021. During this period, online classes for pre-primary to higher secondary levels, affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, will be suspended.
The announcement was made via Twitter, where Minister Varsha Gaikwad emphasized that the holiday period includes all educational levels under the state board. She extended Diwali wishes to all stakeholders in Maharashtra.
In some regions of Maharashtra, schools have been granted flexibility to resume physical education classes following a period of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This reopening commenced on October 4, 2021, after a decrease in COVID-19 cases across rural and urban areas of the state.
