DPS Bokaro is set to host the four-day CBSE Cluster-III Inter-School Basketball Tournament from September 24-27, 2024, in Bokaro. The event is anticipated to attract approximately 1,200 players from 64 CBSE-affiliated schools across Jharkhand and Bihar, competing in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories.
Dr. A.S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, expressed, “We are honored to host this prestigious tournament. Our preparations have been comprehensive, and our focus has been on ensuring the safety and comfort of every participant.”
Tournament Overview
A total of 123 teams will participate, with various age groups vying for a chance to advance to the CBSE National Tournament. The breakdown of participants is as follows:
- Under-14: 19 boys’ teams and 15 girls’ teams
- Under-17: 31 boys’ teams and 16 girls’ teams
- Under-19: 24 boys’ teams and 17 girls’ teams
Over the course of four days, approximately 25-30 matches will be held daily, culminating in a total of 116 matches.
Path to the National Tournament
The winners from this cluster-level competition will advance to the CBSE National Tournament. The girls’ competition is scheduled to take place in Indore from October 9-13, while the boys’ competition will be held in Agra from October 14-20, 2024.
Special Guests
The tournament will be graced by notable personalities, including Harbhajan Singh, a former Olympian and President of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, who will attend as the Chief Guest. Satbir Singh Sahota, a National Cycling Champion, will serve as the Guest of Honour. The closing ceremony on September 27 will feature Umakant Singh, Coach of the Indian National Girls’ Basketball Team, as the Chief Guest for the prize distribution.
