GITAM University Hosts Skill Development Minister, Showcasing Advanced Research and Innovation

Bengaluru, October 17, 2024 — GITAM Deemed to be University welcomed Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, for a campus visit to explore its innovative research facilities. Accompanied by GITAM President Sribharat Mathukumilli and Vice-Chancellor Gauthama Rao Yejju, Mr. Chaudhary toured the Technology Exploration and Product Engineering Lab (TEPE) and MURTI (Multidisciplinary Units of Research in Translational Initiatives). These centres reflect GITAM’s commitment to creating a practical, application-driven education system that aligns with India’s Skill India initiative.

During the visit, Mr. Chaudhary emphasized the importance of applied education in equipping students with the skills needed to contribute to national progress. GITAM’s hands-on learning approach fosters innovation and entrepreneurship, preparing students to meet the country’s development goals with integrity and collaboration.

GITAM has also hosted other prominent figures, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who recently addressed students on the role of young leaders in India’s Viksit Bharat mission. Her visit underscored GITAM’s support for national initiatives like the Anusandhan Corpus, which funds essential research and innovation.

With cutting-edge facilities such as the Venture Development Centre, Drone Technology Lab, and Centre for Biomedical Devices, GITAM continues to lead in multidisciplinary research and innovation. These efforts are pivotal in areas like healthcare, renewable energy, and advanced mobility, positioning the university as a strategic hub for India’s future development.
