Govt School Students to Access CISCE Resources in Chennai

Starting from the next academic year, government school students and teachers in Chennai will gain access to the resources of Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) schools. This strategic initiative is designed to foster cross-board collaboration, broadening the educational resources available to students and enhancing teacher training in modern assessment and instructional practices.

Objective of the Initiative

CISCE aims to create a platform that enables resource-sharing and knowledge exchange between its affiliated schools and government institutions. The plan includes giving government school teachers access to libraries, laboratories, and teaching workshops at CISCE schools, facilitating professional growth and exposure to advanced educational methodologies.

Joseph Emmanuel, CISCE Secretary, highlighted the importance of this collaborative approach, stating, “With the evolving global education landscape, there’s a need for cross-board collaboration. We also want to learn from government schools. Their teachers engage with students daily and understand how students respond to different teaching methods and assessments. By creating a platform for knowledge-sharing, we can improve educational outcomes.”

Implementation Plan

CISCE schools will organize the initiative by creating clusters based on their geographic locations in Chennai. Each cluster will partner with nearby government schools, providing access for joint activities such as:

  • Laboratory Use: Giving hands-on experience with practical science and technology projects.

MCC’s Initiative for Practical Learning

Madras Christian College (MCC) has also announced plans to affiliate with CISCE by establishing a school at its Chetpet campus. This move aligns with CISCE’s focus on practical, hands-on learning. MCC Principal P Wilson shared that the new school would be integrated with the MCC-MRF Innovation Park, where students from Classes VI to XII will engage in:

  • Entrepreneurial Skill Sessions: Programs designed to develop business acumen and creativity.
  • Industry Mentoring: Interaction with professionals who will provide guidance and insights.
  • Project Collaboration Platform: An online space where students can work on group projects and receive feedback from peers and industry mentors.
