Haryana Governor Highlights NEP 2020 and Education Growth

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya emphasized the transformative impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Speaking at the 34th convocation of Kurukshetra University, he highlighted how the policy will shape India’s future through innovation, technology, research, education, and moral values.

NEP 2020: A Path to Progress

Dattatreya stated that NEP 2020 would guide the younger generation toward a brighter future. He expressed confidence that India will achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed nation by 2047. Addressing the graduates, he praised their achievements and urged them to embrace challenges with hard work and integrity.

He reminded students that their parents and teachers have high expectations. Overcoming obstacles will be essential for success in their careers and for contributing to the nation’s development.

Honoring Achievements in Education and Science

During the event, Kurukshetra University awarded Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini an honorary Doctor of Literature degree for his contributions to society and politics. The university also honored former ISRO chairman Dr. S. Somanath for his remarkable work in space science, presenting him with an honorary degree and the Goyal Peace Prize.

Saini reiterated the government’s goal of making India a developed nation by its 100th year of independence. He stressed that young people must prepare themselves mentally, physically, and morally to help achieve this vision.

Expanding Higher Education in Haryana

Saini also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve higher education. He recalled that, a decade ago, many girls in Haryana had to travel long distances for college, limiting their opportunities. To address this, the government established a college every 20 kilometers.

In the past ten years, 79 new colleges have been built, including 30 exclusively for girls. These efforts aim to ensure that every student receives quality education close to home.

A Vision for the Future

The Haryana government continues to focus on educational reforms. The upcoming state budget will reflect this commitment, with policymakers seeking input from young people to create an inclusive and progressive plan.

Kurukshetra University, founded in 1956 by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, has played a vital role in the region’s academic growth. With continued support and the implementation of NEP 2020, Haryana aims to create a stronger education system, empowering students to excel in their fields.
