On October 8th, educational technology experts from CDW, Newline Interactive, GoGuardian, Merlyn Mind, and Acer will convene to discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms during a CDW Education webinar titled “Achieving Better Student Outcomes with AI and Interactive Solutions.” This session aims to address the key challenges and opportunities AI brings to K–12 education.

The free webinar, scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT, will cover topics ranging from current perceptions of AI in education to the practical steps school leaders can take to implement AI responsibly. Attendees will gain actionable insights and receive access to a recording and supplemental information post-event.

Understanding AI in Education: Perceptions and Challenges

For many educators and parents, AI in the classroom is met with hesitation. Samantha McNabb, Newline Training Manager, notes concerns that AI might replace teachers or enable cheating. Similarly, Mackey Pendergrast, Education Strategist at GoGuardian, highlights fears that AI could bring uncertainty to already burdened classrooms.

As AI develops, however, excitement and skepticism are beginning to level off. According to Lindsey Sanford, Senior Field Marketing Manager at Merlyn Mind, education leaders are shifting their focus toward meaningful questions about how to responsibly integrate AI into school systems.

Addressing AI Implementation Challenges

A major obstacle for AI implementation in K–12 settings is establishing a responsible and safe foundation for its use. Sanford emphasizes the importance of focusing on data privacy, safety, security, transparency, fairness, and accountability. For districts facing high turnover among teachers and administrators, adapting to AI can feel overwhelming.

Training new and experienced educators on AI technologies poses another hurdle. Despite these challenges, both Sanford and Pendergrast believe the long-term benefits of AI will outweigh the initial difficulties.

Direct and Indirect Benefits of AI in Education

AI offers significant potential to improve both teacher efficiency and student learning outcomes. One of AI’s greatest advantages lies in its ability to automate low-value tasks, such as grading or data management, allowing teachers to dedicate more time to instruction and student engagement.

For students, AI can personalize learning, breaking down complex material into more digestible concepts. This is particularly useful for students with diverse learning needs. Additionally, AI helps prepare students for the technologies they will encounter in the workforce.

Practical Insights for K–12 Leaders

The upcoming webinar will provide K–12 leaders with strategies to integrate AI thoughtfully and effectively in their schools. From ensuring responsible use to leveraging AI for personalized learning, the session will offer actionable advice on navigating the challenges of AI adoption.

Registration for the event is now open, and K–12 administrators, IT professionals, and educators are encouraged to attend to learn how to start building AI into their classroom workflows.
