The Ideal Indian School (IIS) team has emerged victorious at the CBSE National Taekwondo Championship held in Uttarakhand, India. This remarkable achievement saw IIS winning the overall championship in the boys’ category, excelling in both the Under-14 and Under-17 divisions, and securing the second runner-up position in the Under-19 category.
In the Under-19 division, Ammar Obaid Qazi distinguished himself by winning a silver medal and being named the Best Player in the Foreign Zone. His teammate, Yedhu Krishna, also made his mark by earning a bronze medal. The Under-17 category saw Ahmed Hayan and Mithraj Vinod each clinching a bronze medal, showcasing the team’s depth in talent.
A special highlight came from the Under-14 category, where Mohammed Hassan not only secured a silver medal but also made history as the youngest-ever silver medallist from the Foreign Zone in this age group, representing the Junior section of IIS.
The IIS team was led by captain Ammar Obaid Qazi and vice-captain Yedhu Krishna, with training provided by the school’s dedicated taekwondo coach, Amazad Khan. The team’s participation was supported by management personnel Satender Singh Panwar and Ajanaya. Principal Shaikh Shamim Saheb, along with the heads of various sections, commended the Physical Education Department for their exceptional training efforts that contributed to the team’s success.
This championship victory not only highlights the talent and dedication of the IIS taekwondo team but also reinforces the school’s commitment to promoting sports and physical education among its students.
