Kashipur, July 4, 2024 – The Design Innovation Centre (DIC) at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur played a pivotal role in advancing the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 by hosting a two-day exposure visit for 41 school principals from nine states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. This event took place from June 27-28, 2024.
The principals represented a variety of CBSE-affiliated schools such as private institutions, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools, and other government schools. This initiative, under the aegis of the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE’s) exposure visit program, aimed to enhance the skills of school educators and principals through the introduction of advanced management techniques and educational practices observed in institutions of national importance.
Emphasizing NEP 2020’s Vocational Skill Education
The National Education Policy 2020 underscores the integration of vocational skill education into both school and higher education curricula. The exposure visit sought to familiarize the principals with the latest educational processes and techniques used across the country, enabling them to mentor teachers within their respective schools and communities effectively.

- Prof. Somnath Chakrabarti, Director in-charge, IIM Kashipur, who emphasized addressing emerging concerns like managing students’ physical and mental health and learning in the digital age.
- Prof. Smarak Samarjeet, who discussed innovative teaching methods, valuable resources, and practical steps for CBSE schools to adapt to these strategies.
- Col. Ajay Kumar Upadhyay, CAO, Prof. Vivek Kumar, Dr. Mohd Asif Mustafa Khan, and Prof. Vaibhav Bhamoriya, who shared their expertise on various educational and administrative topics.
Event Highlights and Campus Tour
Participants were also taken on a campus tour to witness firsthand the facilities and innovative practices at IIM Kashipur. They gained insights into the importance of libraries as evolving spaces for learning, opportunities for networking with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and the impact of programs and events conducted by the Navaashay and Design Innovation Centre.
