Indian Educators Excel at International Maths Teachers’ Olympiad

upEducators, a leading EdTech company specializing in professional development for educators, successfully hosted the International Maths Teachers’ Olympiad, providing a platform for educators to showcase innovative teaching methodologies. The event attracted over 2,200 participants from 1,800 schools across 20 countries, recognizing excellence in mathematics education.

Olympiad Structure and Winners

The competition evaluated educators across three levels:

  • Primary Level (Grades 1-5):
    • Hema Lynette Fernandes (Ambassador International Academy, Dubai)
    • Rashika Agrawal (Sunbeam School Varuna, Varanasi) (Joint Winners)
  • Secondary Level (Grades 6-10):
    • Mamata Nath (KD Ambani Reliance Foundation School, Jamnagar)
    • Meghana Marathe (Baroda High School, Vadodara) (Joint Winners)
  • Higher Secondary Level (Grades 11 and above):
    • Dr. Shalini Verma (Delhi Public School, Gurgaon)

The Olympiad featured a two-phase assessment process. The first phase involved a 40-minute online test evaluating educators on technology integration, teaching strategies, classroom management, student engagement, inclusive education, and differentiated instruction. The top 200 educators progressed to the final round, the Maths Educator Excellence Award, where they submitted a comprehensive lesson plan and a short video demonstrating their teaching strategies.

Recognition and Rewards

Top performers received awards worth Rs 10 lakhs, including cash prizes and vouchers from Google and Microsoft. Additionally, upEducators organized eight masterclasses for all participants, led by National Awardee teachers and industry experts. Topics included:

  • Transforming Maths Education with Artificial Intelligence
  • Innovative Teaching Strategies in Maths
  • Unleashing the Power of Digital Manipulatives
  • Gamification in Education
  • Exploring Math’s Motion with GeoGebra and Desmos

Speakers included esteemed educators such as Manoj Kumar Singh, Sangeeta Gulati, and Achala Verma, who provided insights into modern pedagogical techniques.
