Jharkhand Cabinet Approves ₹530 Crore for Educational Development Projects

The Jharkhand Cabinet has recently approved a substantial budget of ₹530 crore aimed at advancing various educational initiatives within the state. This funding will support the establishment of new engineering colleges and polytechnics, focusing on enhancing educational infrastructure and accessibility.

Key Projects

Among the significant allocations, the government has earmarked funds for the construction of several institutions in Jamshedpur:

  • Government Polytechnic in Chakulia: Estimated at ₹134.18 crore.
  • Government Engineering College in Jamshedpur: With a budget of ₹254.93 crore.
  • Government Polytechnic in Potka: Estimated to cost ₹136.13 crore.

These projects are expected to bolster the local education sector and provide students with access to higher education opportunities in engineering and technical fields.

Additional Initiatives

In addition to the educational projects, the cabinet has approved funding for the second phase of the Netarhat Tourism Project, allocating ₹42.83 crore. Plans are also underway to establish institutes similar to the Netarhat Residential School in various regions, including Kolhan, Santhal Pargana, and North Chotanagpur.

Further financial allocations include:

  • ₹20 crore for the first three years of the Jharkhand State Institutional Ranking Framework (JSIRF).
  • ₹39.21 crore for a new degree college in Thakurgangti, Godda district.
  • ₹50 crore for integrated science and mathematics laboratories in elementary schools.
  • ₹38.20 crore for a women’s college in Baharagora.

The cabinet also made modifications to the Anganwadi Centre Building Construction Scheme guidelines and updated the Guruji Students’ Credit Card scheme to facilitate educational financing.

Conclusion

During the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, a total of 29 decisions were made to enhance the educational landscape in Jharkhand. These initiatives not only aim to improve access to quality education but also focus on integrating tourism development and local infrastructure enhancements, fostering overall growth in the state.
