Jordan, N.Y. – Friday night’s Jordan-Elbridge football game on September 27 began on a solemn note, as the community paused for a moment of silence to honor Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputy Cailee Campbell. A 2009 graduate of Jordan-Elbridge High School, Campbell is remembered by her teachers and peers for her bright smile and kind spirit.

Deputy Campbell, who tragically passed away, left an indelible mark on those who knew her. Jason Kufs, an 11th-grade U.S. History teacher, fondly recalled her infectious positivity. “She was the kind of person who just lit up a room,” Kufs shared. “She had a laugh that was unforgettable, the kind that stays with you.”

Kufs, who had remained connected with Campbell through social media, watched her grow into a dedicated law enforcement officer. “She was incredibly proud of her career,” Kufs said. “I don’t think anyone was more excited about their profession than Cailee was about being a police officer.”

Before pursuing her career in law enforcement, Campbell was a standout member of the Jordan-Elbridge High School track team. Known not just for her speed, but for her boundless enthusiasm and heart, Campbell’s former coach, Benjamin Alexander, fondly remembered her energy and dedication.

“She was always the one lifting the team up, bringing joy to everything we did,” Alexander said. “She was the first to arrive at every activity, always with a smile, always ready to help.” He emphasized how her selflessness on the track translated into her career in law enforcement. “It’s no surprise she chose a path where she could help others.”

The heartfelt tributes to Deputy Cailee Campbell serve as a reminder of her impact on both her school and her community, as her legacy continues to inspire those who knew and loved her.
