As the year 2024 comes to a close, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced several updates and reforms aimed at improving the academic framework for students and ensuring smooth conduct of the upcoming board examinations. Below are the key announcements and changes:

Board Exams 2025 Schedule

CBSE has officially announced the dates for the 2025 Class 10 and Class 12 board exams:

  • Class 10 Exams: February 15 to March 18, 2025
  • Class 12 Exams: February 15 to April 4, 2025

For students participating in national or international sports events or recognized Olympiads, CBSE will conduct special exams. This initiative, ongoing since 2018, allows students to balance their academic and extracurricular commitments.

Mandatory 75% Attendance

A new attendance policy has been introduced for Classes 10 and 12, requiring students to maintain at least 75% attendance to be eligible for the board exams.

  • Exceptions: Medical emergencies, sports events, and other significant reasons, with valid documentation, may qualify for up to a 25% relaxation.

Strengthened Exam Security with CCTV

CBSE has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in all exam halls of affiliated schools.

  • Schools without permanent CCTV setups will not be eligible as exam centers from 2025.
  • This move aims to enhance security and transparency during exams.

New Sub-Regional Office in Tripura

CBSE will establish a sub-regional office in Agartala, Tripura, to address the challenges faced by CBSE-affiliated schools in the state.

  • Recent results revealed a pass percentage of only 61% for Class 10 and 59% for Class 12 students.
  • The affected schools transitioned from the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) to CBSE in 2018 under the Vidyajyoti initiative.

Focus on Competency-Based Education

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE is integrating more competency-based questions in exams. This approach emphasizes critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills, preparing students for future challenges.

These measures underscore CBSE’s commitment to enhancing educational quality and ensuring a fair and secure examination environment.
