The Maharashtra government has announced a major reform in its education system by adopting the CBSE curriculum across all state schools under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The transition will begin with Class 1 in 2025 and gradually extend to all classes by 2028.
Phased Implementation Plan
- 2025: Implementation begins with Class 1.
- 2026: Expansion to Classes 2, 3, 4, and 6.
- 2027: Includes Classes 5, 7, 9, and 11.
- 2028: Final integration for Classes 8, 10, and 12.
Education Minister Dada Bhuse made the announcement in the state assembly, confirming that Balbharti is responsible for updating the curriculum. The development of Class 1 textbooks is already in progress.
