Maharashtra ICSE 2025 Results: Girls Lead with 99.92% Pass Rate
Girls have once again outperformed boys in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) 2025 examinations in Maharashtra, according to data released by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). Girls achieved a pass percentage of 99.92%, slightly surpassing boys, who secured 99.89%.
Among the 2.5 lakh students who appeared for the ICSE exams across India and abroad, 29,282 were from Maharashtra. The state’s overall performance was remarkable, with a pass rate of 99.9%, slightly higher than the national average of 99.09%. Maharashtra also produced one of the three all-India ICSE toppers who achieved a perfect 100% score—Arsh Chaudhari from St. Mary’s ICSE School in Navi Mumbai. He shares this distinction with two other students from Jharkhand and Kolkata.
Pune Students Among State Toppers
Pune contributed several high scorers to the state’s success. Riddhima Goswami from VIBGYOR School scored 99.6%, and Avisha Shiju John from St. Mary’s School, Camp, secured 99.4%. Both students expressed gratitude for the support from their schools and families, attributing their success to consistent study routines and strategic exam preparation.
Riddhima, who scored 100 in multiple subjects including science and geography, shared her plans to pursue computer engineering and prepare for entrance exams like MHT-CET. Avisha, who scored full marks in six subjects, emphasized the benefits of solving past question papers and following a steady study schedule over cramming.
Region-Wise and Special Category Performances
The Western region, which includes Maharashtra, had the highest ICSE pass rate at 99.83%. The Southern region followed closely and also had the highest percentage of girl candidates. Despite the national increase in students scoring above 95%, Maharashtra saw a slight drop from last year—4,756 students scored above 95%, down from 5,230 in 2024.
Among students with special needs, 112 candidates with learning difficulties scored above 90%, and 13 visually challenged students also crossed the 90% mark. These results highlight inclusive academic achievement across the board.
Outstanding School Performances
St. Mary’s School and Junior College, Pune, celebrated a 100% pass result for both ICSE and ISC. Of its 202 ICSE students, 78 scored above 95%, and 62 achieved more than 90%. Wisdom World School, Hadapsar, also reported a 100% pass rate for its sixth ICSE batch. Principal Amita Seth noted that 65% of their students scored above 90%, up from 45% last year, and over 31% scored above 95%. The top scorers at the school were Aditi Amol Pawar and Samyojoy Das with 98.6%, followed by Trisha Patani (98.1%) and Kalpana Chaudhary (98%).
Vidya Valley School reported that 23 students scored full marks in History and 18 in Biology, attributing their academic performance to project-based learning and holistic development. Director Ipsita Rodricks highlighted the importance of balanced growth through extracurricular involvement in music, theatre, sports, and debates.
At Pawar Public School, Hadapsar, 174 students cleared the ICSE exam with commendable scores. The school toppers were Pavani Mulay, Arpita Mane, and Aaryaa Bhore, each scoring 98.5%. Vidya Prathishthan’s Magarpatta City School also achieved a 100% pass rate, with 52 of its 110 students scoring above 90%.
Pune-based student Aryaman Deshmukh, who scored 98.8%, was celebrated for balancing academics with multiple talents. He was not only a school head boy and guitarist in the school band but also an active basketball player and the developer of a tree-mapping app for NGO Jeevitnadi.
Continued Excellence from The Bishop’s Education Society
Shayne McPherson, honorary secretary of The Bishop’s Education Society, Pune, announced 100% results for The Bishop’s School, Camp; The Bishop’s Co-Ed School, Kalyani Nagar; and The Bishop Co-Ed School, Undri in both ICSE and ISC. The schools acknowledged the hard work and dedication of students and staff in achieving consistent academic excellence.
CISCE’s Future Outlook
Joseph Emmanuel, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE, stated that the council will not release merit lists moving forward to reduce undue pressure on students. Over 80% of students in ICSE and ISC exams scored first class (above 60%), reflecting strong performance across schools.
He emphasized that despite perceptions that CISCE examinations are challenging, the consistently high pass percentages and top scores highlight the success of its curriculum and teaching standards.
Notable Mention
Divija Fadnavis, daughter of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, scored 92.6% in the ICSE examination. Her mother, Amruta Fadnavis, shared the achievement on social media, adding a personal highlight to the state’s list of high achievers.
