MAHE Becomes India’s First University to Host an IELTS Test Centre

Manipal, October 21, 2024: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has reached a significant milestone by becoming the first university in India to host an IELTS test centre. The university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IDP Education India Private Limited, New Delhi, to bring this opportunity to campus. With the launch of the test centre, MAHE students will have easy access to course modules, along with exclusive benefits such as discounted memberships and support from trained faculty mentors.

The Department of Humanities & Management at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, will host the IELTS Test Centre, which will be available exclusively for MAHE students. Registrations are currently open for the first IELTS paper-based test scheduled for November 7, 2024.

The MoU was officially signed on October 14, 2024, in the presence of key representatives including Dr. Giridhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE, and Mr. Kishan Kumar Yadav, Area Manager – IELTS Operations (South India), IDP Education India Pvt. Ltd. Other notable attendees included Dr. Anil Rana (Director MIT), Dr. Anup Naha (Director International Collaborations), Dr. Yogesh Pai P (Head of the Department of Humanities & Management at MIT), and Mr. Abhishek Swamy, Assistant Territory Manager – Karnataka, IDP Education India Pvt. Ltd.

Dr. Giridhar Kini commented on the achievement, saying, “We are incredibly proud that MAHE has become the first university in India to host an IELTS Test Centre. This achievement reflects our commitment to enhancing global opportunities for our students and the community. Having a test center on campus will provide easier access to international education pathways and strengthen our efforts in promoting academic excellence and global exposure for our students.”
