The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the tentative dates for the upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) 2024 exam. According to the official notice, the exam will likely take place on March 29 and 30, 2025 at various test centers across India.
Applicants have been urged to regularly check the NBEMS website for updates and the final examination schedule, which will be published in the Information Bulletin for NEET SS 2024 on the official website, natboard.edu.in.
Postponement of NEET SS 2024
The announcement of the exam dates follows the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the National Medical Commission’s (NMC) decision to postpone the NEET SS 2024 exam. The court, in an order on August 14, 2023, had instructed the commission to release the exam schedule within a month and conduct the exam by January 2025.
The NMC attributed the delay in holding the NEET SS exam to the disruption caused by COVID-19, which affected the admissions for MD, MS, and DMB courses during the academic session 2021. The admissions process, which was supposed to begin in 2021, was delayed until January 2022, pushing the course completion timeline to January 2025. Consequently, the commission postponed the NEET SS 2024 to ensure that students from the 2021 batch, comprising at least 40% of NEET SS candidates, can sit for the exam.
Exam Shift Timings
The NEET SS 2024 exams are expected to be held in two shifts:
- Morning Shift: 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM
- Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM
Applicants are advised to keep an eye on the NBEMS website for any further notifications regarding the exam.
