The National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 aims to transform education in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Dr. G N Itoo, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), the policy will help the region become an “Educational Hub.” Speaking at a conference in Ganderbal, he outlined key initiatives focusing on early childhood education, digital learning, and skill development.

Major Initiatives Under NEP-2020

  • Early Childhood Education: Authorities will set up 15,000 pre-primary schools, benefiting 180,000 children.
  • Technology Integration: The government plans to establish 600 ICT labs, 2,000 smart classrooms, and 52 Tinkering labs to promote digital learning.
  • Universal Education: Efforts will bring 46,000 out-of-school children back into the system, with a strong focus on girls’ education.

Skill-Based Training and Awareness Programs

NEP-2020 will introduce skill-based training in schools, ensuring students gain practical knowledge for future careers. Additionally, officials will conduct awareness programs in all 374 educational clusters in Kashmir Valley. These sessions will inform students and parents about the policy’s benefits.

With these initiatives, Jammu and Kashmir aims to improve educational access, promote digital learning, and equip students with essential skills for the future.
