Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya emphasized the transformative potential of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, asserting that it positions India as a global knowledge superpower. Addressing the convocation at Royal Global University, he outlined how the NEP aims to revolutionize higher education while preserving Indian values and ethos.

Inclusive Education for All

Governor Acharya urged Royal Global University to lead in promoting inclusive education with compassion at its core. He highlighted the importance of developing educational models that cater to underprivileged sections of society and instill ethical leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students. Universities, he stressed, should go beyond imparting academic knowledge to nurture socially responsible citizens.

Qualities for Success: Knowledge, Passion, Compassion

The Governor underscored the importance of three key qualities—knowledge, passion, and compassion—for students to succeed in life. Institutions, he said, must focus on fostering personality development, moral values, and social sensitivity alongside technical and academic excellence.

Industry 4.0: The Era of Technological Revolution

Acharya called attention to the ongoing technological revolution, noting its impact through Industry 4.0, driven by artificial intelligence, data science, and digital technologies. He urged students to equip themselves with skills in these cutting-edge fields to stay relevant in the ever-evolving global landscape.

NEP 2020: A Vision Rooted in Indian Ethos

Acharya described the NEP 2020 as a visionary policy aimed at creating an education system rooted in Indian values while addressing global challenges. By providing high-quality education for all, it aims to establish India as a Viswa Guru (world leader) in knowledge and innovation.

Key reforms in higher education under NEP 2020 focus on enabling the next generation to thrive in the digital era while integrating India’s ancient ideals and modern aspirations.

Education Beyond Jobs

The Governor emphasized that education should foster a sense of social responsibility and nation-building, extending its purpose beyond mere employment. He encouraged graduates to embrace service to humanity, ethical leadership, and innovative thinking.

Convocation Highlights

The convocation ceremony saw degrees conferred upon 1,502 students, including:

  • 25 Ph.D. scholars
  • 651 postgraduates
  • 771 undergraduates
  • 55 diploma recipients

Prominent attendees included Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, and Royal Global University Chancellor Dr. A.K. Pansari.

A Call for Courage

In conclusion, Governor Acharya urged graduates to think differently and contribute actively to India’s journey toward its Amrit Kaal—a golden era envisioned under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

By aligning education with NEP 2020’s goals, India can not only meet the demands of the modern world but also reclaim its historical position as a global leader in knowledge and innovation.
