A fresh batch of 57 undergraduate students from Government Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, Bemina, and Government College for Women, Nawakadal, Srinagar, has successfully completed their internship at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Sempora. The program, conducted as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is designed to provide students with practical exposure to entrepreneurship and business management.

Internship Structure and Learning Experience

As per NEP 2020 guidelines, undergraduate students must complete 60 hours of internship to fulfill their degree requirements. The JKEDI internship program spanned 10 days, offering a structured learning experience that introduced students to the functioning of various verticals and sections of JKEDI.

The interns gained insights into Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs (EAPs), Entrepreneurship Orientation Programs (EOPs), and Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs), which aim to promote entrepreneurship among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Hands-On Training and Business Simulations

A key highlight of the internship was an idea pitching workshop and business simulation exercises, where students engaged in real-time business scenario analysis. These activities provided practical exposure to business challenges and solutions, helping students develop entrepreneurial thinking.

The Centre for Business Development (CBD) team at JKEDI introduced the interns to Detailed Project Report (DPR) formulation, a crucial step in launching a business venture.

Additionally, students worked on case studies related to entrepreneurship development in Jammu and Kashmir and submitted comprehensive reports on their findings.

Guidance and Supervision

The internship was conducted under the Centre for New Enterprise Creation (CNEC), a key program of JKEDI, with the overall guidance of Director Rajinder Sharma. The program was coordinated by Aijaz Mulla and Smt. Saba Nazir, Assistant Faculty at JKEDI.

Encouraging Entrepreneurial Mindsets

JKEDI continues to play a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurship in the Union Territory by offering training, research, and skill development programs. The successful completion of the second batch of NEP 2020 internships reflects the institute’s commitment to nurturing young entrepreneurs and preparing them for self-employment opportunities.
