NEP-2020 Workshop Concludes at SSM College of Engineering

Srinagar, April 14 – A five-day workshop on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 concluded at SSM College of Engineering, Parihaspora, on April 14, 2025. The workshop started on April 9 and brought together experts from academia and industry.

During the closing session, Prof. (Dr.) B.S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, delivered the keynote address. He emphasized that India was once a global leader in education. According to him, the flexibility and choice offered by NEP-2020 will help India reclaim its position as Vishwa Guru.

Moreover, the workshop featured insightful discussions and practical suggestions. These came from senior administrators and faculty members of SSM College, as well as guest experts.

Prominent participants included:

  • Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Darzi, Dean, School of Management, University of Kashmir
  • Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi, Chief Coordinator of NEP, University of Kashmir
  • Professors from NIT Srinagar and University of Kashmir

In addition, the sessions focused on how NEP-2020 can promote flexibility in curriculum design. Topics included interdisciplinary education, vocational integration, and student empowerment.

As a result, participants shared their views on the benefits and challenges of implementing the new policy. Their collective insights provided a strong foundation for academic reforms.

Overall, the workshop demonstrated SSM College’s dedication to national educational priorities. It also reinforced the importance of collaboration between institutions for successful policy execution.
