This week marked the inauguration of two groundbreaking educational institutions at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai – The Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School (NMAJS) and the Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School Early Years Campus (NMAJS EYC). These schools promise to usher in an innovative and futuristic educational experience for young learners in the city.

Expansive Campus for Holistic Learning

The NMAJS, with a sprawling 3 lakh square feet of constructed area, is dedicated to primary and middle school education (classes 1-7). Meanwhile, the Early Years Campus, occupying an additional 30,000 square feet, focuses on preschool and kindergarten education. The Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS), also located in BKC, will continue to cater to high school students (classes 8-12). Collectively, these institutions will serve over 1,000 students, offering a holistic and future-ready learning environment.

Visionary Leadership and Design

The NMAJS project has been conceptualized and led by Isha Ambani Piramal, Vice-Chairperson of NMAJS and an alumna of DAIS. Her vision was to create an institution that caters to the diverse needs and unique learning styles of students, inspiring them to reach their full potential.

At the opening ceremony, Isha Ambani Piramal shared her vision for the school, saying, “I dreamt about creating a place that prompted all of us to be at our collaborative and compassionate best, to really build a strong and open community with one another. The school’s transparent architecture is a testament to this. The spaces here aren’t just for learning – they’re for growing together, for sharing ideas, and for becoming the best versions of ourselves.”

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Sustainable Design

The new campuses boast several distinct features, including expansive and multipurpose learning spaces, modern science and technology labs, creative arts studios, and experiential learning facilities. The green campus integrates sustainable design features and prioritizes the safety and security of students and staff. The school aims to foster academic excellence, holistic development, and well-being through these thoughtfully designed spaces.

Addressing the students, Isha emphasized the importance of nurturing enthusiasm, curiosity, and values in children, encouraging them to become lifelong learners. She highlighted the school’s transparent design as a reflection of its commitment to integrity, trust, respect, and compassion.

A Legacy of Dedication to Education

Isha also shared how her mother, Nita Ambani, inspired her dedication to education. “From my mother, I learned that the most rewarding work is the kind that makes a difference in someone’s life,” she said.

Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson, reflected on the success of DAIS and expressed her commitment to building NMAJS into a “timeless temple of learning.” She remarked, “As we look back, we are humbled that in the last two decades, we managed to build DAIS as a happy school that always celebrated a culture of excellence and constantly reinvented itself as an innovative and forward-looking institution. Similarly, we are committed to building NMAJS into a timeless temple of learning.”

A New Chapter in Education

The opening ceremony, attended by students, parents, teachers, and staff, was filled with excitement as attendees explored the new campus and admired its thoughtful design and comprehensive facilities. As NMAJS embarks on its journey, it is poised to evolve into a modern educational edifice, shaping future generations into positive thinkers, creative individuals, productive contributors, and visionary leaders.
