NIELIT Gorakhpur Achieves Deemed University Status

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been granted the status of a Deemed University by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under Section 3 of the UGC Act. This prestigious upgrade allows NIELIT Gorakhpur to collaborate with 11 prominent institutions across India, enhancing its role in higher technical education.

Currently offering over 80 courses, NIELIT Gorakhpur plans to expand its curriculum to more than 100 courses following this new designation. The institution is set to introduce new programmes starting from the 2024-25 academic session, including M.Tech, B.Tech, Machine Learning, and various diploma programmes. These additions aim to broaden employment opportunities for students and equip them with cutting-edge skills in modern technology.

Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, Director of NIELIT Gorakhpur, highlighted the benefits of the new status, including autonomy in curriculum design, fee structure, and admission processes. He emphasized that this recognition will enable the institute to develop new courses aligned with industry demands, enhancing students’ qualifications and providing practical experience.

The transformation to a Deemed University positions NIELIT Gorakhpur as a key centre for technical education and expertise. This development is expected to significantly contribute to India’s digital growth and technological advancement, providing students with valuable opportunities to make impactful contributions in the field.
