With the academic session concluding, government primary school students across the state will take the NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) test starting February 17. This initiative aims to evaluate their learning outcomes in language and mathematics.
Assessment and Implementation
The NIPUN test will be conducted by Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) trainees using the NIPUN mobile application. Schools will be categorized as NIPUN or non-NIPUN based on student performance.
Students scoring 75% or above in both language and mathematics will be recognized as NIPUN students and will play a role in enhancing foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) in their classrooms. These students will be felicitated on NIPUN Recognition Day by the education department.
Test Process and Monitoring
- Each day, two DElEd trainees will conduct the test in two schools and receive Rs 250 per school.
- The NIPUN mobile app will randomly display student names, and 24 students from each school will be assessed. If a school has 24 or fewer students, all will be tested.
- During the test, a photo of the trainee with the student will be taken as documentation.
- The Vidya Samiksha Kendra will monitor the process by making random verification calls to ensure transparency.
Ensuring Educational Progress
The NIPUN test is a crucial step in evaluating and improving the learning levels of primary students. By recognizing high-performing students and supporting foundational education, this initiative aims to strengthen literacy and numeracy skills at an early stage.
