Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Thursday that the state government will establish a model school in each of the 6,700 panchayats across the state. Speaking at a Teacher’s Day event, Majhi stated that the schools will aim to enhance the quality of education and will be named after Odisha’s first Education Minister, Godabarisha Mishra.
Additionally, Majhi introduced the ‘Madho Singh Haath Kharch Yojana’, under which every tribal student will receive Rs 5,000 per year. This scheme is expected to benefit around 3 lakh Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, addressing the issue of student dropouts among the tribal population.
The chief minister also emphasized that the state’s education framework will be aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with necessary measures already being implemented. Majhi added that Odisha will focus on culture-based education as the system evolves in the future.
