Puducherry Schools and Colleges Closed Due to Heavy Rain Forecast

    The Puducherry government has announced that all schools and colleges in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions will remain closed on Wednesday due to a forecast of heavy rains by the weather department. This closure extends to both privately managed institutions and government-aided schools.

    The regions also saw closures on Tuesday in response to the ongoing rains. Home Minister A. Namassivayam confirmed the decision, emphasizing the safety of students and staff.

    Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan held a review meeting with officials to assess the government’s preparedness for the current weather conditions. The Department of Revenue and Disaster Management briefed the Lt. Governor on the steps being taken to ensure relief and rehabilitation efforts are in place for affected areas.

    Collector A. Kulothungan released a statement informing the public that control rooms and relief camps have been established in both Puducherry and Karaikal. Additionally, 62 teams from the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), who arrived from Arakkonam on Monday, are on standby, ready to respond to any emergencies. The government assures that it is prepared for any eventualities brought on by the heavy rains.
