Two young women are suing Dr. Oumair Aejaz and Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills, accusing the doctor of secretly recording them while they changed into swimsuits during their time working at the facility. The lawsuit, filed in Oakland County Circuit Court, claims the women, now ages 21 and 23, were subjected to privacy violations while working at the swim school between 2020 and 2023.
Dr. Aejaz, 40, was arrested in August 2023 and charged with several crimes, including producing child sexually abusive material and using hidden cameras to record nude individuals. The charges stem from incidents spanning multiple locations, including Goldfish Swim School, where Aejaz’s children attended lessons. Authorities allege he placed hidden cameras in changing rooms to secretly record employees and patrons.
The lawsuit alleges that Goldfish Swim School failed to provide adequate security measures, allowing Aejaz “unfettered” access to communal changing areas. The women claim they were required to undress in these areas, which lacked privacy and proper safeguards. The sheriff’s office contacted the women in late August, informing them they were likely captured on Aejaz’s recordings.
Goldfish Swim School’s owner, Katie Lee, issued a statement expressing outrage over the situation but emphasized that their facilities use private changing areas. Lee noted that the school is cooperating with authorities but cannot comment further due to the ongoing investigation.
The lawsuit seeks a court order to enforce changes to the swim school’s facilities and practices, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future. Attorney Kevin Carlson, representing the women, emphasized the need for greater security and oversight in communal spaces to protect employees and patrons.
Dr. Aejaz faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. This case is part of a broader investigation into Aejaz’s alleged misconduct, which spans multiple locations and involves numerous victims.
