Cracking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is one of the most challenging academic feats, but Sarvesh Mehtani from Panchkula, Chandigarh, managed to secure the top rank in JEE Advanced 2017. His journey to success required immense dedication, focus, and the ability to balance intense study with relaxation. Despite his love for social media, Sarvesh distanced himself from distractions and spent about five to six hours daily preparing for the JEE, increasing study time to eight to ten hours on holidays. He also found solace in watching cartoons to relieve stress during his preparation.

Sarvesh, the son of Parvesh, an income tax department employee, and Raj Bala, who works in the Haryana Government’s industrial department, had a strong academic background. He scored a CGPA of 10 in his 10th board exams and secured 95.4% in his 12th boards.

Sarvesh topped the JEE Advanced exam with a score of 339 in 2017 and went on to pursue a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay, graduating in 2021. Currently, he works as a Quantitative Trader, developing high-frequency strategies for trading financial derivatives. His academic excellence is further highlighted by accolades like the Aditya Birla Fellowship and the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad Award.
