Due to a severe cold wave and fog, several states in India have announced an extension of school winter vacations. This decision aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students during the chilly weather. Below is the detailed list of states and their revised school holiday schedules.


State-Wise List of Extended School Holidays

Delhi:

  • The Delhi government has extended the winter vacation for all government schools from January 1 to January 15, 2025. Regular classes will resume on January 16, 2025.

Bihar:

  • Government and private schools across the state will remain closed until January 11, 2025, for students up to class 8.

Chandigarh:

  • School timings have been revised to 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, replacing the earlier schedule of 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Haryana:

  • Winter vacations for both government and private schools have been extended until January 15, 2025. Regular classes will resume on January 16, 2025.

Uttar Pradesh (UP):

  • Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools will remain closed until January 10, 2025.
  • For secondary schools, students from class 6 to 8 have been granted extended holidays, with reopening dates yet to be announced.
  • In Ghaziabad, schools for students up to class 8 will remain closed until January 11, 2025.
  • In Noida, schools for students up to class 8 are closed until further notice.

Jharkhand:

  • The state has declared holidays for government and private schools from January 7 to 11, 2025, in response to harsh weather conditions.

Lucknow:

  • Schools for students up to class 8 will remain closed until January 11, 2025.
  • Online classes will be conducted for students in classes 9 to 12.

Telangana:

  • The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE) has declared Sankranti holidays from January 11 to 16, 2025. Classes will resume on January 17, 2025.

Himachal Pradesh:

  • The state has announced extended school holidays from January 1 to February 1, 2025.

Jammu and Kashmir:

  • Winter vacations for students up to class 5 are scheduled from December 10, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
  • For classes 6 to 12, the vacation period is from December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
