In a bid to minimize disruptions in education, several city schools are embracing flexible attendance policies. These include live online classrooms, mobile applications for submitting classwork, and real-time updates for students unable to attend physical classes.
South City International School Leads the Way
South City International School has introduced live online classes for students facing emergencies or those unable to be in the city or country. According to Principal Satabdi Bhattacharjee, the initiative ensures continuity in learning.
“Earlier, if children had emergencies, including health or family-related matters, they had no choice but to miss classes. With online support, students can now communicate, ask questions, and experience the classroom atmosphere even while away,” Bhattacharjee explained.
Additionally, the school has implemented online admission tests, making it easier for students from outside Bengal to participate. All exams, results, and interactions are now conducted digitally.
Tech-Driven Solutions in Other Schools
Other institutions, such as Ashok Hall Girls’ Higher Secondary School, GD Birla Centre for Education, and Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, have also embraced digital platforms:
- GD Birla Centre for Education: The school’s new website and ERP system enhance communication between parents, teachers, and students. Principal Craig Lucas emphasized the importance of keeping parents informed and providing immediate updates on class assignments and homework.

- Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar: The school uses mobile applications to share performance updates, real-time attendance, and assignments, ensuring students and parents stay informed.
